A Peach of a Day

Guess what I’ll be doing today?

Something I haven’t done in a long time!

I’ll be filling these little jars with sweet peach preserves…

and hopefully a larger jar or two with sweet sliced peaches for use in peach cobblers in the future.

This is the result of an innocent, 1-minute conversation with my friend Stephanie while at a funeral yesterday. It went quickly from Stephanie asking, “Have you ever done in canning?” to “I’ll bring you everything you need” to this showing up at my doorstep an hour later.

So, much to my surprise, I’m canning peaches today!

But first this…

In fact, I may have to make another pot! It’s been a while since I’ve put anything edible in a sterile jar and sealed it with the hopes that it would still be edible months from now.

Wish me well!

How fun, I know you'll enjoy the preserves! I hope to make some spiced peaches to bring out at the holidays this year!

I'm sure your canning experience went very well! I make preserves, but I've never canned peaches.

We used to get peaches in SC every year, when returning home from our beach vacation. However, we went on our vacation early this year (May), so no peaches for us. 🙁

Peaches are a favorite of mine. In fact, when I was pregnant with our youngest, I craved them…couldn't get enough of them. lol Also, my mother makes the best peach pie EVER. I enjoy eating it while it's still warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top…yummm!

Seeing your pics has made me hungry for peaches. Hoping our Farmer's Market will have some this Saturday!

You must share on a future blog out this went! I'm really looking forward to doing things like this when my kids are not attached to my legs!

Perhaps when school starts and there's only 1 at home!

I can almost smell the peaches coming through my computer!

    I hope you had fun!

ps- I recently wrote a blog about coffee cups! I did notice yours – how was the coffee?!

Wow! I'm so impressed. I've never canned anything. Does freezer jam count? 🙂
