Praise for Direction

For clarity in the midst of confusion, we give You thanks.
For a little light, even just a little at a time, we give You thanks.
For Your still small voice, calming and soothing in the midst of noise, we give You thanks.
For assurance when we don’t know what’s around the bend, we give You thanks.

Sometimes we ask for direction and we long to know the complete journey, beginning to end,
But You give just enough information to take a step in the right direction.
Honestly, we don’t think too highly of that method at the time.
We want to know where we’re going and how we’re going to get there.
We want to be assured of a happy ending, a pleasant destination, success and completion.

But  You offer peace to the one who keeps his focus on You.
You grant rest to the one who leaves the driving to You.
You whisper assurances to the one who stops fretting and starts listening.
And, in the end, You always take us to a place beyond our wildest dreams,
a place where You are…a place where our feet can stand on solid ground…
a place where we are in the middle of Your perfect will for our lives.

And for this we give You thanks.
